    Like vegan cheeses, I wouldn't use those spreads. They are mostly Palm oil or sunflower oils. I guess there's quite a big difference between being vegan and being vegan but following a whole food plant based diet...

  • I also steer clear because of the palm oil, and make my own butter. It's surprisingly easy - there are plenty of recipes online. I don't have mine to hand, but it uses coconut oil, olive oil, soy milk, a pinch of salt and some liquid lecithin. You basically whip everything together for a few minutes and then leave to set. Voila! Delicious, fluffy butter. Melts on toast and makes great buttercream icing.
