  • While I'm here, anyone know how to calculate stack and reach if you only have the geo table, not the bike in front of you?

Bonus points if I only have to punch numbers in online!

    TIA

  • Is the double sided stuff that sticky?

Some of it is very sticky indeed. Picking the right one to match your substrates and surface preparation are the keys.

  • anyone know how to calculate stack and reach if you only have the geo table

If you have all the geometry, it's just trigonometry. Most bicycle geometry tables don't list enough parameters to deduce stack and reach. The required dimensions are:

    1. Front centres (BB to hub)
    2. Fork offset
    3. Fork axle to crown length
    4. Head tube length
    5. Head tube angle
    6. Headset stack height
    7. BB drop

I could work out the formula, but I CBA as a: you probably don't have all the dimensions you need and b: if I were doing it, I'd sketch it in CAD and measure the outputs

  • There's an online tool that claims to do it. Google bike geometry calculator. I'm on my pine right now.

  • a: you probably don't have all the dimensions you need and b: if I were doing it, I'd sketch it in CAD and measure the outputs

a: Correct, I fell at the first hurdle.
    b: It's what we'd expect.

    Thanks!

  • I'm on my pine right now.

I hope that works out ok for you.

    Thanks!

  • I'm still picking needles out

  • My saddle (spez toupe) is making an annoying creaking/pinging noise where the rails go into the nose when it's flexed. Seems like the rails are moving slightly within the plastic.

Doesn't look to be cracked or anything, any ideas how to get rid of the noise?

  • So what are the cool kids using these days? Screen based as opposed to Whatsapp etc.

I hear LFGSS.com has a pretty good PM feature. :)

  • ny ideas how to get rid of the noise?

  • I'm looking for an app to work out meet times for Outlook, iOS, and android.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers.

  • he said cool kids!;) i keep track of all my parties, lectures, openings, etc. through the powers of the book of feces. i attend but 10% but at least it makes it look like i have an exciting life you know..

but coming to what hugo asked, i have successfully used fb messenger for working together with people on a distance. paired with a google drive mind.

  • Cool kids don't use Facebook. My mum uses facebook.

  • Google is great (so long as you haven't clicked any links from strangers recently). Unfortunately the crazies here are migrating people to Office365. le sigh.

  • Not sure if this is what you mean but doodle.com is pretty good for working out when everyone's free.

  • That looks great.

I guess there's no reason it needs to be an app rather than online.

  • Is it a bad idea to run the rear wheel this far back in the drop outs? The axle bolt hangs over the end a bit.

Where can I buy a half link connector? Google keeps bringing up complete half link chains.

  • Velosolo carry them.

  • The general rule is it's ok as long as all the axle is inside the dropout

  • @farewell

Removing one complete link (1") will move the axle slightly less than half an inch forward, looks like there's enough space for that.

  • Is it a bad idea to run 30mm axle in BB86 using rotor 4130 BB for cyclocross? Brain says yes ..

  • Is it 3/32" or 1/8"?

I bought a whole half link 3/32 chain ages ago for this reason. Depending what you need I can check and send you a bit.

    Drop me a pm.

Now my turn as I'm in rampant question mode. My google-fu is failing me.

I want to buy some reflective elastic cord for my backback like this:
    https://www.amazon.com/Reflective-Diameter-Elastic-Various-Lengths/dp/B00MMQYDV2/ref=sr_1_1?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1493909365&sr=1-1&keywords=Reflective+Shock+Cord+Elastic+Bungee+Cord

but can't find a UK seller.

All I get is fucking shoelaces.

  • I have a whole variety of PDFs that are SECURED. This means that I can't run OCR on them or copy text from them. Any idea how to get rid of this? I had a convoluted method opening in Chrome and printing back out to CutePDF or similar but it's a hassle and doesn't always work. Is there an easier way? I obviously don't know the password.
