  • As Aggi said more details would be nice.

Bit strange even "white collar" is low in the Conservative/LibDems... a lot of us now work such jobs, some are well paid, so you'd expect a mix of that in all parties.

You'd expect manual workers to be higher in Labour, though again a better mix would be nice. But why is white collar so low in Con/LD?

  • May goes fully loco, accuses unnamed European politicians and officials of interfering with the UK election.

How can people not see her for what she is? I've never been so contemptuous of a PM, she is utterly incompetent.

  • May goes fully loco

    Strong and unstable?

  • Not really - it's a great story yes, but if Brexit was to now not happen that would be an even better story because that would be entirely unexpected. With the general election on top it's a story that keeps on giving, so we don't need Brexit to actually happen to make it a good story.

  • The public and the media love wars. It gives everyone a chance to indulge in some rose-tinted / misty-eyed jingoism. The EU have been wholly transparent in their position and approach all along (as David Allen Green's blog posts from last week neatly summarised), so this current outrage is to some extent being manufactured (hello Lynton & Messina) to shape Theresa May's public profile. If this hadn't happened we would probably have had to go to war with Spain over Gibraltar.

  • Do you reckon we could do Spain in a war?

  • We couldn't "do" any developed country in a war.

It's easy to win a first battle and declare the result, but modern warfare means never-ending wars. There would be no resolution.

We'd have to police a state with military force for as long as we wanted to hold it, and still we'd suffer some attrition.

All one can do is build enough of a deterrence that no-one comes knocking in the first place, but as an offensive capability it's all a bit daft.

  • I reckon the same. We'll easy beat them up.

  • We could send an armada. That'd learn 'em.

  • We could send an armada. That'd learn 'em.

We'd have to build one first. At least that would result in more jobs, right?

The present Royal Navy fleet is much smaller than I suspect people realise. Do we even have any active carriers at the moment?

  • We who?

  • But how would we stop the Polish taking them?

    Geopolitics is tough bizniz

  • Yeah like in WW2, in the RAF, they may end up fighting for the UK...how dare they ;)

  • Farage and Hoey have got a boat. We could start with that.

Murdoch must have a yacht or two. Phillip Green might offer one of his.

  • Asks for negotiations for Brexit to begin. Calls election. Claims fallout of negotiations are interfering with election and blames the other side.

Is she incompetent, though? This will only fortify the resolve of, and strengthen her in the eyes of, the true believers.

  • Yes. But no planes.

  • I now have a Waterworld-style image of Phillip Green with an eye patch, leather waistcoat, steering an armored apocalyptic yacht.

  • I bet that right now someone like Jacob Rees Mogg is leading a line of MPs around the corridors of the Houses of Parliament pretending to be the Dambusters planes

  • No. They're much better at retention and would tika taka us to death.

  • We'd only want the beaches wouldn't we?

  • We've got ~350,000 leathery UK pensioners in Spain, they could target local councils and Police stations, over-throw the Spanish state and then hold out until May gets there at the head of a column of challenger tanks. Kelvin MacKenzie would have to have the blood drained from his erect penis at half hour intervals to prevent a life-threatening erection from developing.

  • Over 800,000 Polish in the UK. I'm assuming they will fight for us?

  • In Spain? We could nationalise EasyJet and use them to deliver our Polish foot soldiers.

  • Except nationalising it would be Communist and WRONG, maybe a voucher in the Sun to collect your SA80 and boarding pass to Alicante?

  • Blimey, i didn't realise Phillip Green was the villain in Thunderball
