I think I read that some racks only work with curved blade forks not straight blade forks.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but the racks that attach down by the axle (eg Pelago, Metro etc) shouldn't be affected by the straightness of the fork. Mid-rack mounts such as the Pizza rack might give you more grief, but from what I can see there's still a bit of anterior/posterior adjustment in terms of the mid-fork mounting. Plus if you use P-clips that'll negate some of the issues with having a straight fork anyway.

Cheers, think I'll get that metro rack as its a fair bit cheaper.

I just got one of those. Was pleasantly surprised by the build quality for the price.

Only if your straight fork is simple straightforward (no pun intended). I couldn't fit my pelago rack on my mash work because the end bits have a bit of a lip preventing the fitting to stay upright. It works but not ideal...

Are there any shops in London with the large black pelago commuter in stock?

Try Cycle PS or SBC cycles?

Thanks - popped in to PS and they've got some on order to arrive in the next week or so.

Did they per chance mention if they had the Medium on order? & how were they for pricing?
-
• #388
Medium is probably about a tenner less? I think it was when I got my large rack last year...

Absolutely no issues. Can recommend.

Evening,
I'm having trouble fitting the metro rack I bought. The blue bike photos are from the website, the green is my bike.
First the bolts that attach the legs to bottom of the fork legs are not long enough, plus I think I would need washers to make it fit without a gap. Is this normal?
Second on the videos I've seen online the attachment that attaches to the U brake normally moves to aid the fitting. The metro bikes one is welded on preventing adjustment, I think I would need to flex it to get a horizontal fit. Is this normal? It also would be touching the headset unless I shimed it with washers.
I'm okay with tools etc but much prefer riding so any advice will be gratefully received. Thanks

I've actually just had similar issue fitting mine. When i first put mine on, it was sloping down to the front - as you say, it has no sliding fork crown tab (or whatever you call it) so it's not adjustable. I ended up just bending the tab with brute force until it was more or less right. You can see where I didn't do the neatest job!
My straggler front forks have eyelets at the front of the dropouts so i could bolt the stays straight on, but i did buy some 6mm spacers just in case (m5 x 6mm spacers off eBay). I imagine that's what you'd need in order to make the stays clear the fork tubing. I ended up using one of them where it attaches to the fork crown as otherwise it didn't clear the headset.

Think I'll send it back as I don't want to bend it and snap it. Thanks for your help.
Anyone know where I can get a black pelago commuter rack in stock please, preferably delivered unless they are Cambridge based.

If you want a completely custom rack made in london definitely check out dmenor bikes https://www.instagram.com/dmenorbikes/
Used by many couriers, so can definitely take abuse.

Not very aesthetically pleasing, are they expensive?
As in, will the P-clips work with a straight Kona fork?
