Gonna cost a lots more than just fitting a cable inside it and lock it in place

Oh for sure. Just another option. Then you can carry your Starbucks in either hand too.

A short length of cable (or the spring from a ballpoint pen) are neater solutions, but if the lever is inadvertently pulled it's a lot more work to put it right.
