  • The Garden Bridge is dead. Finally.

  • Hurrah. Colossal waste. Just a dreadful vanity project for London

  • comment from bbc transport correspondent at the start of the month:

This is 40 pages of brutal, uncompromising criticism of nearly every part of the once flagship Garden Bridge project. I can't remember reading a report so damning of a transport project.
Procurement, finances, business cases, value for money, previous mayors, deputy mayors and transport officials get an absolutely withering assessment.

    sounds fun.

  • No prospect of any prosecutions of wliful/negligent spending of public funds?
The members of the Garden Bridge Trust need a day in the stocks.

  • What the fuck did I just read?

  • Lumley on the Garden Bridge:

Lumley told the Times the project had been politicised. “There was so much negativity about this £60m of public money,” she said. “All we heard was £60m, £60m, £60m. But . . . it’ll work out at about 32p a person in the UK. It’s not as if we’re stealing bread from people."

Fuck off. I can think of far better things that my 32p can be spent on rather than a fancy project in London that I'll never use and have my mobile tracked while on the fucking thing.

    Such as:

    1. NHS
    2. Decent rolling stock on the railways rather than hand-me-downs from other services
    3. Welfare
    4. Job creation outside of London and the South East.

I still really liked her in Sapphire and Steel mind you...

  • You're forgetting the then £3.4 million a year for upkeep.

  • £60m, 32p a person.

I make that 187,500,000 people in the UK.

  • yes, it's c. 92p pp
