  • @merak I would say pick up the long run where you left off but maybe have a week of steady running rather than any intervals or sessions. How much longer do you have? 7 or 9?

I'm still injured after London with a low grade calf tear.

Our (mine and @Philpub) club, Kent AC, have just launched our new end of the summer season race. The Ladywell 10000 will have six seeded races over 10000m at Ladywell Arena, Catford on Sunday 3rd September. It's a great opportunity to make a summer of hard training pay off. For now you can join the facebook and strava groups and email ladywell10000@gmail.com for more information.

  • Nice, I've never done a 10k race before, might come along!

Physically seem to be recovering well, did a gentle trot on Tuesday, then as I'm down in Cornwall headed out on some of my favourite trails on Thursday and was amazed how close I was to my personal bests so headed out yesterday to try and get as many of the course records as I could.

Was pretty pleased to take 1 minute 10 of the existing record for a 5k segment, given that I've tried pretty hard on the segment in the past but it begs the question what went wrong last weekend..

I can only think it was a combination of dehydration as I wasn't prepared for how busy London is, and wasn't positioning myself well for the water stations, and mental when I lost thebpacer just as doubts started setting in. I think in future I'll do more hard long runs midriff midweek training, but seriously honking about taking on a small marathon in the next few weeks to try to do a race that is somewhere close to what I'm capable of.
