Ferry goes to Fishbourne not to Ryde. Catamaran goes to Ryde, it is quicker but a little more expensive, though it can work out cheaper if you buy a train ticket to Ryde from London as it includes the crossing.
Fishbourne is closer to Kite hill and The Sloop has been rehashed and is being renamed.

Just seen this thread, will try and make a plan for next weekend. Post early next week once I have re-arranged things.
-
• #10
Gah. When did that happen?
Anyhoo, will evaluate options this weekend. -
• #11
catmaran with train ticket included is always a good option.
if the stars align i might daytrip it this year.
-
• #12
just seen this - tempted to day trip it too

It's all about the ride back on the bank holiday Monday.
Think I'm too unfit for those shenanigans this year.
-
• #14
@T4NY4We did the catamaran in 2014 as well. In to and out off Ryde.
-
• #15
Did we? Hmmph. Memory fail

So I'm in for camping, and have convinced the girlfriend to come along. Now to convince her that she's plenty capable of this given she's done a 200k audax!

Coolio!
We're keeping an eye on the weather. Might not make a decision until Friday... -
• #18
But how could it be a proper bank holiday without rain?!
-
• #19
So how are people feeling about the weather?
-
• #20
Haven't ruled out going, but not enjoying the prospect of rain & drizzle all day...decision will be made late this afternoon I feel.

I don't like AccuWeather.
-
• #22
The Met Office reckons it will rain in the afternoon but should be clear in the morning. Still keen I think, I'll just bring overshoes...
-
• #23
Officially bailing. Want to do it some time over the summer, when weather is good
-
• #24
Could do it tomorrow, weather supposed to be clear!
-
• #25
Tbh if we're not doing it on the proper day with all the other participants I'd rather wait and do a weekend with proper good weather.
It's that time of year again...

@MrT4 and I will be camping at Kite Hill Caravan Park kitehillfarm.co.uk £7.50 per person per night.
We'll probably go geared but I guess it's whatever floats your boat. Route is now fixed and is clockwise each year.
Possible plan:
Train mid-morning/midday on Sat 29th from Waterloo to Portsmouth.
Ferry to Ryde
Arrive in Ryde
Cycle to accommodation
Head to shops/pub for booze/food
Have nice evening in a pub
Randonnee on Sunday
Recover in pub, whilst nailing the pub quiz :p
Head back to Ryde to catch ferry late morning early afternoon on Monday (bank holiday)
Train back to London by mid-afternoon
Who's in? All welcome :)
