  • Was looking ideally for the AF as an all in one package.

  • It seems that there are a few going for under £350, I reckon if you wait it out you'd be able to pick one up on eBay within budget

  • Recent exploits.

  • I've seen one on their going for £250. Nearly pulled the trigger until I read the description that the flash works, but the camera doesn't turn on. What the heck! Most others on their are all upwards of £650, even over £1,000 in some cases. Madness!

  • Last shot 👌

  • These, and the higher end compacts are going at stupid prices nowadays. There is no way they are worth the money they are asking for. Their image quality is no better than a bunch of camera's you can pick up for a fraction of the price.

  • Oh dear - sorry didn't spot that....
Surely one can get a decently luxurious 35mm compact for less than a couple of hundred without feeling like you've been mugged for something that should be much cheaper (mju2 or T3 or whatever)

  • Imo the mju ii is the best value for money for a premium 35mm camera. Prices are going up but at least you aren't spending £3/400

  • Agreed, an excellent and Democratic design...

I just can't bring myself to drop that sort out cash on something that used to be so plentiful & cheap!!
(I seem to be going the wrong direction nowadays... The last 3 compacts I bought were mju 1, af-1 mini, & yashica motor J)

  • Yep.. I paid £50 for my fist a couple of years back, and £100 for one a couple months back... My thoughts on it were just to go for it, who knows what prices will be like in a couple of years time

  • indeed, and for image quality/ease of use, still worth every penny...

I was at an auction the other day and a leica iif with elmar 50mm went for £90....
I know I sound like an old git*, but when the price of plastic compacts starts to overtake barnack classics, something's going wrong...

    (* I literally am - 40 this weekend)

  • This. All the compacts will die.

A Canon P with a Color Skopar would be my choice.

  • I just got a Ricoh GR1 with 6 months warranty for £200 - the deals are there if you wait for them. I have seen a 35TI sell for just over £200 in the past month (probably wont see that again) and a couple of TVSii for £250ish.
Another option could be buying a Contax G1 body and holding out for a decent deal on a 28mm or 45mm to use on it.

  • I just can't bring myself to drop that sort out cash on something that used to be so plentiful & cheap!!

    Yeah, I know, it sucks.
That's how it is though; every day hundreds of great 35mm cameras are dying, they will become extinct sooner or later.
Will have to buy a Mju-II before they rise to £500, and a couple of L35AF's for sure.

  • Check out charity shops in nice areas of London. Kind of places well-off people will dump an old camera thinking its not worth anything. People I know have found mju-ii's for less than a tenner

  • Tiree pebbles.
