am I just looking to buy in the wrong places?
You're looking to buy the wrong brand. If you want a heritage brand, you can get a pump which is made by a company which has been in business since before the safety bicycle, rather than one made by a hipster marketing company which bought the label from a deceased Italian factory.

What @mdcc_tester said. The Zefal HPX is great and costs bugger all. Consider one of these too, makes any frame pump easier to use (and has a gauge).
Do Silca frame pumps really cost upwards of £100? Or am I just looking to buy in the wrong places?
