Hi,
I saw this Wilson for sale here and wondered if any new how the paint effect was done?
Cheers for any knowledgeable advice.

Using thick smoke. A member repainted a 3rensho lo pro using this technique. He used big candles (edit: homemade stuff) if I remember well.

Amazing, thanks so much! I wonder if he lacquered it to seal the smoke. I'll try and contact him, cheers.

Something about this fade really does it for me!

Probably the right place to ask, do we think that painting frame, mudguards and stem in the same finish on a modernish functional/road build would be way overkill? Just two of the above, or anyone seen all 3 done well? I seem to remember there was a yellow Surly that did that, but can't find it now.

on a similar note - has anyone painted a masterblaster frame pump before? or the Zefal HPX?

I think a bit much. Two probably acceptable. Bowman did a matchy matchy job on one of their new Layhams.

That bike is all sorts of wrong.

Depends what what you woul class as overkill!
Jake Rusby has done this on a few bikes. It can go either way in my opinion. Colour choice would play a big part in which way it went...
considered painting the frame one colour, and then the frame graphics, stem and guards all in a complimetary alternate colour? Like this Mosaic, but with guards.

I'd say it also depends on the size of the tubing, the stem and the fork legs. The Jake Rusby bike works IMHO because the frame and forks are fairly lender, so having a lot of the same colour doesn't look too OTT.

Yeah neither of those are really doing it for me tbh. I found that surly, I think maybe this sort of scheme (not as lairy a colour) could be good: frame stem and rack co-ordinated. Much like the Salsa Casseroll too which I thought was a decent looking bike.
Did I imagine seeing something about you going public with your painting services?

Thin tubes, innit.
Awesome! I'd love a Pegoretti some day, can't say I'm a fan of the tall headtube a though...
