It was super-linear but the puzzles were fun
They were way too obscure for me. I spent ages, as a kid to be fair, just wondering around with no clue what I was doing or what was going on.
Still, atmosphere was excellent. Reinstalled it a couple of years ago and still found the start amazing. But then got stuck at a puzzle involving some glowing rods or something.
The Dig was beautiful in many ways, but the puzzles were a joke. I waited for years for that game to come out, and was pretty bummed by the final product. I don't think I ever beat it.
I've also never beaten Grim Fandango... Wish I had more time.
Did you play Broken Sword (and its sequels)? They've also been remastered and the first one is a gem.
