Used their correct extraction tools. The cranks were on a Supersix HM purchased a couple of years ago so assume they're out of warranty now.
You're right, the design is great for the forces caused by pedalling but seems obviously flawed with regards the extraction process.
Doesn't matter, chase it up, a good bike shop that supply cannondale should be able to do it for you.
