  • My seatpost keeps slipping. I have cranked it down pretty hard, cleaned some of the grease out and changed the clamping bolt (it is an integral seatclamp) and still it slips.

    Question is- will using carbon assembly paste:

    a) provide any benefit and prevent the slippage
    b) cause the steel frame and alu seatpost to spontaneously combust?

  • I've used it on three different frames with alu seatposts for the past couple of years and it's been fine. It can cause a little wear on black seatposts, depending on how often you adjust the post, and how delicate the finish is.

    Carbon paste has grains in like sandpaper

    I've found the newer formula ( red ) Tacx stuff to be the least abrasive of those I've seen.
