• What would you have to pay for a Lambo / Aston / Ferrari of that age?

Much more. The comparison is probably between my car and a 964 - and I would imagine that I'd probably spend the same on the 964 that I've spent on the 996, but the original car would be 30k instead of 9.5

  • Yep. I reckon to get my 964 to the standard you're after it would need £6k worth of odds and sods and a £10k engine rebuild to sort the oil leaks.

Luckily I have low standards and 964s have a plastic tray that catches the oil drips.

You'd be lucky to find an average one for £30k now. That's shitter territory.

They are the best 911 though.

  • That's shitter territory.

Based on my inability not to fix things I suspect I'd be better off getting a shitter and sending it straight to the Indy, asking for it back only once everything is perfect, rather than spending a lot more on a car that is meant to be perfect.

  • My RS6 is obviously suffering from the dreaded 50p oil seal leak which involves engine removal to replace. I'm not worried. I have a power washer and lots of detergent, so the oily patches on the driveway could be removed. Not that I will actually remove them, but I could if I wanted to, and so that means they're not really there. Potentially.
