  • My seatpost keeps slipping. I have cranked it down pretty hard, cleaned some of the grease out and changed the clamping bolt (it is an integral seatclamp) and still it slips.

Question is- will using carbon assembly paste:

    a) provide any benefit and prevent the slippage
    b) cause the steel frame and alu seatpost to spontaneously combust?

  • Carbon paste has grains in like sandpaper. Increase friction quite a bit. No issues with using it on metals as far as I'm aware

  • a) yes
    b) not sure, probably not.
    c) Gorilla tape and fizik seatpost ring at the right height will also help

  • I've used it on three different frames with alu seatposts for the past couple of years and it's been fine. It can cause a little wear on black seatposts, depending on how often you adjust the post, and how delicate the finish is.

I've found the newer formula ( red ) Tacx stuff to be the least abrasive of those I've seen.
