Yam are really smashing it at the moment imo. When I get a free weekend I'm going to try and blag a test ride on one.
The recovery guy who collected me has one - as an older, well proportioned white gentleman he was conscious of not wanting a stereotypical big chrome cruiser.

My dad used to have an xv535, which I mischievously took out a few times. I think they have a bit of a negative Rep
For being a Harley wannabe but actually it was a fun bike to ride, smooth engine, sounded good and the handling was decent. Can only imagine with 20 years of development the 950 above will be a fantastic bike all round. -

Anybody scared by the new fines for speeding or have you all got a handle on how much you twist the throttle?

Word. I use at least a 100 of my available horses everyday on the way to work. Nice knowing more is available if a vulgar display of power is called for.
That Virago is horrible. That and the bloody SCR950 are crimes against motorcycling good taste of the highest order. Partly made up for by the XSR900 in yellow. Saw one with a loud pipe and a few subtle mods here yesterday and it looked and sounded like a blast.
How about a second hand Speed Triple?

The Tranny likes to do 80 or 60, doesn't really sit right at 70.
Thankfully triple figures are not common (50bhp, upright, hefty rider, M25 / does not equate to licence losing speeds)
I keep it legit on residential/ local roads.
Also I'm still under 2 years licenced so i can only get 6 points before it gets cut up. -

I had considered the speed triple but only briefly.
In all honesty, unless the triumph discount is significant, I'll end up getting another Tracer 900. It's a fantastic bike...

I hankered after a Speed Triple for a bit but they hold their value like crazy here. It was at least part of the inspiration for dunking the fairing and adding flat bars to the Suzuki.
I've never heard anything other than glowing praise for the 1095 series and they sound mega.

Didn't get on with the blinged-out Speed Triple I borrowed for a day a while back. Sounded absolutely incredible and the acceleration was mad, but hated the riding position. Bar position felt weird, and it was like I was humping the tank. Daytona 675R was more comfortable, friendlier and better handling by far. While still being mental when I pinned it from zero on a straight, quiet back road.

I reeeeeally like the 675. Definitely on my 'at some point' list. Just because they're so teeny tiny.
Be a waste to commute on though. -

i got 1700 after excess for my stolen bandit, i think i'm going to buy an old bmw K series or an old triumph with mega miles (maybe a trident again, or a trophy) or an old transalp. or maybe an old cbr600f.
pretty undecided! I'm very scared about it getting stolen in the night from in front of my house again, so i think i'm naturally looking for something reliable but ratty.

Is it off street?
After my mates bike was nicked he looked at one of those mini foldable garages. In the end he moved, but they looked like a good idea. I think you'd also be able to rig an alarm dislock to it.

Any current recommendations for track day / sunny day boots? Need a new pair. Comfort, flexibility, lightweight and max ventilation are the priorities.

Go to a shop!
If you're after something less expensive I did a dull write up of my TCX s speed which could work for a track. Not super light or anything though.
I'd say the first two on your list are things you can only ascertain from trying them on - for eg I found Dianese and TCX fit me much better than SiDi.

K1100lt worst bike I ever owned almost put me off motorbikes, utter heap of shit, k1100rs on the other hand was great, my fave bike when working on various surveillance teams back in the nineties, fast and comfy. Get the mirrors lock wired to the bike as they pop off when aggressively filtering in traffic

Anyone been to the speedway up at Rye House? Any good? Thinking of heading up on bank holiday Monday, looks an easy ride up the Lee to get there.

Claim approved!
Just waiting on settlement fee. Almost certain I'll just get another Tracer now.
Sounds about right.
