MTB and road stack/reach don't really compare. You could be looking at having your bars 30-50mm higher and 20-40mm closer on a trail bike than a road position. You don't want to be going over the bars when the trails point down. The current trend for MTBs is to have a long top tube, slack head angle and short stem. My colleague went for the 15inch, absolutely loves it and her husband then bought the same bike in the next size!
Work colleague was looking for the same kind of bike. At 5ft 6 I suggested a 29er wasn't the way to go unless she was racing. Settled up on this:

Reviews well in the basic version but this has a better fork for pretty much the same price with discount.
