  • I think the best part about converting this back to single speed was that the rear wheel didn't need to be rebuilt due to the fact on how long the thread axle on the surly fixed hub was the freewheel cog just slipped right on with no issues. I'll test this for a month and if everything goes according to plan then I technically have a hub that can be free and fixed!

  • So Hip HOP...

  • Thanks for the offer dude. Was in work van on the way to a job (24 hour call out sucks). Yeah the paint is what caught my eye looks ace

  • Or buy the Pinnacle singlespeed rear wheel with a short freehubs body.

  • Huh? The surly fixed hub is working perfectly fine so far with the freewheel cog, unless that's not a good idea?

  • Isn't it 135mm rear end? Just use any mtb single speed rear end. Hope do a nice one with a freehub that can fit up to 5 cogs (if you ever want to add gears).
Its perfectly fine as it though.

  • lol

  • It's been hanging in the shed for ages. I should ride tarck more frequently again...

  • Same here, I pulled this out of the shed today too. Thinking about finally drilling it and putting a brake on

  • Never set up cantis before and need a hanger for the front of a new project, am I best off with one that hangs from the top of the headset or one that attaches to the fork's crown?

  • IMO fork crown, less cable judder

  • If you're about in KH still. Pop in for a coffee at black lab!

But yeah the paint is killer. Need to get a better camera!

I like Black Lab, some good stuff up T'Heath recently with you and Gorilla

  • fork crown is miles better!

  • How come? Aesthetically I like the crown anyway but as far as I can see from googles it also seems to give less shudder.

  • Finally re built the Roberts since paint job back in late 2015!

  • Not much of a project, just rebuilding my friends touring bike, before she leaves, to ride to Spain. Needs new rims, hence unbuilding the wheels. If you're interested in bike adventures, you can have a look at her instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adventuresof_anna_/ There's not a lot on it at the moment, but I think it's going to be updated pretty regularly when she leaves at the start of May.

  • Actually i think you're right!

  • It'll be fine. Many polo players run freewheels on the fixed threaded hubs with no issues.

@edscoble this Pinnacle ss hub, does it come in 36h? If so, how much?

  • Definitely fav. Super pumped to get my Nature Boy disc all built up after seeing this one reinvigorated.

SRAM cranks give an appropriate chainline for the Surly hub? Shit if I'd known that a month ago I'd have jumped for that instead of a freehub setup.

  • Brakeset fitted
