I basically learned analog SLR photography with an AE-1.
No there's no major differences; the A1 is a bit tougher and heavier and capable of full auto mode.I'd get any of them you can get in a good condition for a reasonable price.
That OM2 amey mentioned is a nice camera as well.
If I were starting analog 35mm SLR today I'd definitely go for a Pentax ME, they're smaller, tougher, and have a lot of lenses I really like.

I already have a pentax ME fortunately, and its been great, just looking for something that allows me to pick both shutter speed and aperture.
Currently looking at the Canon A1, AE1 and AE1 program for a next purchase, what would ppl recommend?
Doesnt seem to be much difference (program mode etc) between the 3 or am I mistaken?
