I'm dumb as dirt, as I didn't know they needed some force to sit in place - I thought they sit flush naturally.
Understood now, all good. Sorry for thread opening for my dumbness.

Don't be so hard on yourself!
The crown race is an interference fit so shouldn't just drop into place, but wear & tear can affect how tight they are.
There are also different standards, but unless you're messing around with old bikes, the difference is quite apparent.
Some crown races are now split to make fitting and removal easier.
Do you know anyone with the correct tools to fit it?

Thanks for your kind reply, I will borrow a crown race tool to fit the lower one. Headset also has the split crown which goes on top.

The split ring is a bearing collet. :)
Hey, is there any solution to this? The lower end of the fork is a bit thicker than the rest of the tube and the race doesn't sit all the way down, is there a way to fix this?
