So the 48% just need to vote Lib Dem and all our problems are over, ish

This is it, she's basically said it too.
"Our opponents believe that because the Government’s majority is so small, our resolve will weaken and that they can force us to change course.
They are wrong."She's also put in a dig at the HoL.
And unelected members of the House of Lords have vowed to fight us every step of the way.

It's OK everyone, themonuclear war could break out any moment and save us from this.

A world war may be the only thing that could actually save us from brexit at this point.

Some top-torying, right there. get an election out of the way before the consequences of Brexit start to become apparent.

Politics at its worst/finest... Unlike that shower of amateurs on the other side of the house...
No room for fucking about in this game...

Indeed. From their point of view it means they're in charge throughout the Brexit talks without a GE looming in 2020. Labour a shambles, UKIP run out of steam, LibDems nowhere yet. Depressing, cynical and very sensible time to be calling an election.

El action thread is over here:

But it also means delays to actually GET ON with it, as the EU won't wait for this.
So there's even less time to work out a deal.
-
• #44917
I don't think anyone remotely believes Britain's getting any kind of deal in the next 23 months apart from the ones coming through the front door for takeaway and Iceland vouchers.
-
• #44918
So, the UK tumbles out, no deals, total chaos and even worse economic damage. Yay.
Come to The Netherlands! :)
And punch a few Wilder supporters there ;)

Wonder if this was premeditated somehow, or if if there are genuinely people out there who walk around with acid in case they get into an argument ... pretty sickening either way.

It's really not. Although I expect the govt and newspapers to claim this of the result.

Epic dredge - there's a browser extension called 'Trackmenot' which does exactly this.

Aha. It does make it seem more likely that she called the election because of this. It's interesting how her talk about needing a bigger majority even hints at it. Pure speculation, of course, but it's what a lot of people have been thinking. Never mind the inevitable denials, but they will probably prevent it from gaining much traction.
Also, this made me laugh:
The CPS decision must be made by the end of May, or early June.

This is incredibly interesting:

I predict a Tory landslide that gives them their mandate for the hardest of Brexits
