Not the best pic, but finished building this up this morning. NOS Cycle Tech frame from @nutsjesmoar with some random stuff from the stash. Only almost killed myself once riding it to work. Always check if you've tightened the quill bolt... All that's left now is to remove the stickers on the rim (and maybe put on some mudguards)

Ok, googled a bit more, and to me it looks like the h/l setting is originally meant for adjusting V-brake action. See for example
So I think I'll give them a pass. I do appreciate the offer, though.

It increases the power of a V-brake by effectively adjusting the leverage ratio - more lever travel for less pad movement - same as a canti lever.
Used a pair of those happily on a bike where I had a V on the front and U-brake on the back

Oh ok, I must be miss informed myself  no worries dude.

I run those STX levers happily on a road bike with Dura Ace road calipers & flat bars. They work a treat, and they're really nice levers.

V brake levers + road calipers = great braking and endos4dayz

Nothing much to say, I noticed a small crack in the head tube two weeks after buying it. The seller was nice, we came to an agreement together so I send the frame to a framer. He stripped the head tube in order to inspect and repair it (luckily it was smaller than expected). Still my favourite bike to ride...

I think I more or less get that, but I found multiple comments saying that both settings are still in the long pull range rather than typical short pull. If it works, great.

Bit late to the party.
Bit of v-brake history.
When they first came out in XTR there where so many over the bars crashes as XTR's where a bit more powerful than standard v-brakes (due to the pad linkage system) this mostly being in the states, this lead to shimano shipping bikes/levers preset in the L position for low power and a small plastic tab wedged into the lever which had to be removed to allow the H position for full power, so any lawsuits would mean the user had selected full power so any crash was there fault.
Going from canti's to full power XTR was a bit like having someone shove a stick in your front wheel at speed :) took a while for people to work out v-brakes work very well.
On the shimanos it was a power adjuster, i have some Dia-compe MX levers and it is intended to switch the levers between v-brakes and canti/calpiers. -

My first experience of V Brakes was on my mate's Kona, around 1995 or 96. I rode down my parents driveway (a slope but not super steep), tried to scrub off a tiny bit of speed and went straight over the bars. Mightily impressed with them compared to cantis.
I've never fallen off from clipless pedals so I guess this was my moment. In fairness I didn't know much about Vs and my mate didn't tell me how strong they were/are.

There's something about the proportions of your bikes that just looks right. What happened to the tout mavic bits that were previously on the pinsello, in particular the mavic comete?

raise the nose of that saddle
-
• #113968
I've tried that but it hurts my gooch. The middle part is levelish now and it's comfy. Though it's too narrow for me anyway and I'd like some padding so looking for something else

is that a composit and is that yours? I may have something ..

as an internet bike fit expert I agree, raise the nose of your saddle slightly, smp's are made so the front bump is about level with the back. Also your levers need to come up on the bars slightly. I know unwarranted advice is always appreciated and I accept payment in chocolate hobnobs.

• #113972
As I said, I started with it level and found it putting a lot of pressure on my gentleman equipment so I've lowered the front and all is now well

• #113973
Also I've ran out of hobnobs. Only got "Sod Offs" left

What you got? If it's not gonna get me likes on the gram, I'm not interested, comfy or not

Build this front wheel this night...
