Bike24 is showing a re-stock on the 24th, so maybe check back later?

Anyone got a 2.25 or 2.35 Rocket Ron 29er tyre going? Evo Trailstar TLE if pos...

Trailstar
Not a bit draggy for an XC whippet like yourself?
-
• #9984
Want all the gripz
Having said that, I'm not even sure they make a 2.35 or a Trailstar RR.

I'm not even sure they make a 2.35 or a Trailstar RR.
Don't think they do. That tread's quite limited in variation compared to more popular ones like Racing Ralph & Nobby Nic.

Hmmm. I can get a Pacestar in 2.25 for £29 from CRC.

Pacestar in 2.25
For the FSI, I'd say fine.
For the full-sus, get a slightly more aggressive tyre.

Yeah, that was the intention. In case the ground stays dry for this Sunday Echappee thing or Torq.
The full sus has the stupid performance line stuff on it but I can't bring myself to bin them or even bother to tubelessify them.
-
• #9989
I've found the Pacestar pretty grippy. The Trailstar must be super-soft.
As for the performance line >>>>>>>>>>>>>
*Still not as bad as cheap Contis
I can't bring myself to bin them or even bother to tubelessify them.
Skid them to death!

The Trance came with a Trailstar front and a Paceline rear. Doin it right.
Cannondale. Doin it wrong. As usual.
-
• #9991
Pfft maybe I'll just stick with the Nobby Nic front, stupid Paceline Racing Ralph rear.

Furious Freds or gtfo

In the winter I run two 2.35 nobby nic's, which are, possibly the slowest on rode tyres of all time. Fantastic in the mud though.

• #9994
There are far far far worse than that, I'm afraid.

Obvs. hasn't met the Speclialized Storm Control

I am out of date on furumites bikes and events
What FS and what Sunday Echappee thingy?
FWIW I'd view crotch grabbing while racing as extremely dodgy. The one place I wanted a dropper was Wasing and the run up to the drops was tight single track where full concentration was needed before chickening out to the B or C line!

I've 90% convinced myself that I should buy a mountain bike.
I did a bit of bmx as a kid, and I've ridden a non suspension late 80s mtb round some tracks in Scotland (in my youth). Last week I went round some of Cli-Machx in Wales and now want to do more.
So I'm basically a beginner.
Best bet to get a decent hard tail bike? Or is that just paving the way to inevitably having to buy a full sus bike within a year?
I want an all round bike which I can ride up and down hills and trails. I am not going to be doing any racing or anything madly technical, but I would like to tackle some good descents in due course.
Any suggestions welcome - currently quite like the look of this:

Whyte T130 or Cannondale Habit
Hardtails are rad too

Not sure about that tho

Thanks - I like the look of the Whyte.
Having watched some more stuff on youtube, think maybe the Canyon is a bit too racy for my requirements.
If anyone finds the eTen lever dropper on sale anywhere let me know. I looked a while back and came up empty. (30.9) Ta
