Thanks for all the above comments. As the Chair of LVCC we try to avoid all of the above mentioned mistakes, I recognise many of them.
Don't forget that clubs are run by volunteers. Many clubs struggle with communicating and involving new members, especially in a multi platform environment.

This is true for BC races, less so for TTs.

Uhm, OK. Hope that all works out for you.

Your club does need to be BC registered to race under the name. So you won't see any EC1 jerseys at races because as far as I'm aware you should be racing in your team kit.

4th cats can wear what they want

3w per kg is hardly remarkable, but they're making it sound like they only accept elite racers.
..or people that actually own £££ powermeters. I am happy to not know how many watts I will never attain but am very particular about not having my ride ruined by being halfwheeled by some sales exec thinking he's in the tour and listing to shit chat about Ti seatclamps

Cycling club type A - 'Cycling club' with broad range of members, weekly rides and sportive, racing and events. Too many rules and kit is usually a bit generic
Cycling Club B - 'Group of friends that turned into a club', less rules, more banter, downside is can be really cliquey if you are not in with the right group, not many club runs but mysteriously most members ride out weekends in smaller satellite groups which fit their sub-genre, 'dads, fixed, boring twats, etc'. Better kit.
Cycling Club C - 'Artisan/specialist' basically men who need to find another way to distance themselves from what they perceive as lower on the food chain, and use status, wealth, vocation or another way to preserve white bro culture and get a kit that looks great on social channels.

You could probably win a Cat 4 race on 3 watts/kg if you raced smart.

My ftp isn't far off that and I've managed a couple of top 10's in 1,2,3 crits because generally people suck at sprinting.

Not unique to cycling. Can find similar in running.

Be warmed up, be aero, go from the gun.
People like me will think you're a triathlete and let you go...
Or is it people like me that attack from the gun... -
• #1138
Agreed, the patterns are common to many sporting groups.

EC1 are not BC registered? Sounds like their worried about having Elite persona smashed by someone who can manage 3.1w per KG for an hour, that or having that Supersix with the fugly lever set up written.
@übé®_grübé®
I'm fairly sure they only know this because they do their "club" rides on Zwift.... -

Pretty sure my quidditch group isn't like that.

I had to Google that. Sport mostly played by wizard children who are divided by house, and the kids without magical parentage are referred to as 'mugbloods'
Kit off da hook tho.

EC1 are not BC registered?
this was covered earlier in the thread. One of the criteria of BC is that anyone can join your club, as EC1 is "exclusive" they wouldn't be able to register.

"We're not a cycling club in the traditional sense but rather a community of like-minded bike enthusiasts"
Bike enthusiasts. Not cyclists.
" whose propensity to enjoy the finer things is maximised through an aggregated representation."
All about the gear, bro.
"And this way our beloved industry players win too. Through this reverse marketing model they are driven directly to the most relevant sources of trade.
Our data driven model enables this granular matching up process."

Dunno, it's part of registering with the Inland Revenue as a Community Amateur Sports Club.
https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/zuvvi/media/articles/clubs/T23_-_Model_CASC_Constitution.pdf"4 Membership
a Membership of the Club shall be open to anyone interested in the sport on
application regardless of sex, age, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual
orientation, religion or other beliefs. However, limitation of membership according
to available facilities is allowable on a non-discriminatory basis.
b The Club may have different classes of membership and subscription on a nondiscriminatory
and fair basis. The Club will keep subscriptions at levels that will not
pose a significant obstacle to people participating.
c The Club Committee may refuse membership, or remove it, only for good cause
such as conduct or character likely to bring the Club or sport into disrepute. Appeal
against refusal or removal may be made to an appointed panel consisting of club
members. " -

I remember we had an actual vegan in our cycling club, first time I really felt like we were ahead of our time regarding inclusivity. This was 2011 and all.
Someone on here will be able to correct me but I think clubs have to be BC registered in order for you to race under their name.
Don't think that would preclude you from wearing the kit though as I've seen (been beaten by) all sorts of FKWs in Sky kit at Cat 4 crits.
