Yup. I have questionable social skills, but still have yet to have a shit experience riding with new groups of people. Everyone's usually incredibly friendly.
I suspect the new wave of clubs have started as traditional clubs are mostly shit at the internets. Someone trying to engage with them on snapbackchat etc isn't going to work.

one of my first experience with a proper 'cycling club' was one that didn't have online banking and you still had to pay your entrys via cheque. TT season you'd turn up on a wednesday evening, pay your £3 and see where you came on the points chart that no one understood. While it is great, there was definitely nothing 'modern' about it
