  • Nice project and lovely fork crown!

  • Can I ask why cantis and not centrepulls (am I right that you've still got the Compass ones on your Oak)?

  • I have an Ultegra 6600, 10 speed, and it does work, there is plenty of range in the limit screw on that one. Though who cares as that 7400 is awesome.

  • I have the Compass centerpull on my Oak and I love it.

The Oak, as mentioned before it turning more into a club racer, as it's simply fast and fun to ride, I already have this handlebar bag (Gilles Berthoud Mini 86) on it's way as it's half the size of my current one yet do away with the decaleur.

However I'm quite partial to cantis, a good set of canti can be brilliant, I used to ride the Paul Neo Retro before when riding to Morocco and I recall it perform flawlessly, I can choose however way I want it to work, short and sweet, long and grippy, etc.

  • The frame and fork as I was told, is almost completed.

Might actually be ready for LEL 2017 actually.

Will be painted by Chroma Works, whom does Field Cycles paint, which are excellent.

I have dark blue/black with gold or silver box lining with decals, but open to suggestion on paint colour.

  • any update on this?

  • This isn't the same cycles in motion that is in Sheffield is it? didn't know they did framebuilding. Rad place anyway

  • @edscoble You're fucking mental and I love it. Your creations are badass Will PM when less drunk. Apologies about that,

  • That the guys.

Currently talking about paint and small components, same company who paint Fields.

  • Fields

Oh ed, you crack me up

  • Nearly there but actually a long way off, especially the rack, decaleur, cable etc.

Note: this is just a clearcoat to protect the frame, not the actual paintjob.

  • you going tubeless and tyreless for this one ed?

  • Any updates on this?

  • Good point.

He's doing the smaller stuff, like rack, decaleur, cable hanger, etc.

Discussion on paint and decals is starting to finalised.

Couple months waiting list on paint, don't mind, @coldharbour work on my Oaks mean LEL will be great, the Oak got a longer 110mm stem and 105mm reach handlebar, managed to beat my Richmond Park laps by a full 30 second which is nice.

Moreso on a bike that is a full 3kg heavier and shrouded with lightweight 38mm tyres.

  • I realised that photo made me look "@JB too big on custom frame" on it, despite the seat tube being 59cm (new one is 64cm).

  • That looks really good! Nice form.

  • I think the definition is "high stack short reach" etc.

  • And flat back for the gram obv

  • Never forget your helmet #safetyfirst

    Posture looks good tbh

  • Have always loved the look of that bike, looking forward to seeing this new one all gleaming!

  • Frame, rack, hanger and decaleur is done.

  • so good!

Who did the decaleur? My VO is shit, need something else

  • He (Dan) fabricated them himself, also the cable hanger and the decaleur.

    Once I get the fit dialed, he'll make a fillet brazed stem to go with the rest of the bicycle, like on this late 1940 Alex Singer;
