  • Jeeb sorted for glyndeborne, btw

  • them sonys are amazing !

  • That is sweet news.

Now I just need to break the news to the other couple coming that they need to get the train. Ha.

  • You need to know that it is starting to look a bit rough around the edges

  • Still goes like stink though. Ive sorted the brakes too.

    Car thread that way>>>

  • Mate I'm looking pretty rough round the edges too.

  • Got a dual 604 turntable for sale if anyone is interested . Perfect condition belt drive. Pics to follow shortly. Item is on the wirral plus a denon drm 10 cassette player recorder .

  • Ps1 working pretty nicely as a cd spinner. It does skip a bit at the beginning of albums so I think the laser might be sticking. Using it more seems to help.

Also, the startup BOOOOONG sounds awesome. Everything should have a startup bong.

  • Brought a jbl charge 3 Bluetooth speaker for travel duties, and its pretty impressive, will strap it to back of bike for upcoming London to Paris tour...

  • Get a usb battery pack with many mAh as well...

  • Is anyone looking for some relatively vintage gear at what appears to be a great price?

  • A grand? two hundred quid would be a 'great' price....

  • Anyone got tips for cleaning dirty knobs and switches? I've a Kenwood KA 3700 and the volume and source controls are playing up.

  • iso propyl alcohol spray IPA from maplins
or 99.99% solution from makeup suppliers
perfect for cleaning grease gunk and other accumulations
plus it will just evaporate away leaving no deposits what so ever

  • First step would be take knobs off if possible (I just mean pull them off the shaft, so you can get better access. Sometimes a grub screw needs undoing) and squirt in some Servisol.

  • .

  • Thanks. Spray was my first thought but a quick google returned http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Clean-The-Controls-On-Your-Amplifier/ which looked a bit hardcore. Will swing by Maplins on the way home.

  • Downgrade to 'fair' price?

  • you'd comfortably get more than your money back if you split that lot.

  • True, if you could be arsed...

  • Anyone know a proper way of testing if your crossovers are behaving?
Over past year or so noticed speakers are sounding more dull, what used to be driving weighty Base now feels like it's moved "up" the range (higher freeq) and it's almost as if the tweeters are trying to produce bass like sounds (or rather there are gaps in the high end that sounds like the opposite of the bass track)
Speakers are 20year old ruark paladin (two way with a British made crossover) and bi wire posts.
Tried spare amp and sounds exactly same, unlikey to be source or wiring related though right?
Very much doubt speakers have ever been "serviced" though foams and rubbers are in very healthy condition with no deterioration

  • Can anyone give me a good rule of thumb for replacing my stylus? Just do it every x years, or listen for sibyllance (sp?) or distortion? In the words of the late great Whitney: How will I know?

    Also:
Where can I find some very low speaker stands to get my LGMs off the floor? Should I use spikes too?
