So it is starting to look like buying a new VW passat estate with a diesel engine back in 2014 was a poor decision. I had intended to run it to death and never buy a car again. Sadly doing that seems to kill children in schools, which I am not up for.
So, I think I'll be using the scrappage scheme if it comes along and selling it if not.
What should I buy instead? It has to be low emissions, preferably hybrid, although I park in street so plug in leccy would be tricky. Has to have long range, so pure leccy is out. Has to be an estate or equally roomy. Would like to be able to mount my Thule bike rack and top box on it.
Of secondary importance are nice to drive and gadgets, although I do like the latter.
I feel that buying new is the way to go, but am not ruling out second hand.
Suggestions?
