• Period saddle fitted, mmmm, looks heavy let's hope it's comfortable or it could end up being Selle Italia gel flow SLR

  • Would be nice if you could get happy with a more classic saddle I reckon. I spent most of the '80s/90s riding round on either Turbo or Rolls saddles before realising there were saddle shapes that were more kind to my rear. Now using a Concor Supercorsa and very happy. Still a classic but nicer shape and less heavy looking. (I also tried a Flite but it didn't agree with my sit bones. Shame, nice looking saddle.)

  • I have not tried the saddle out yet. It just looks too big. My regular saddle is a selle italia gel slr with a slot in it. And i find them very comfortable .

  • Spotted on my ride today at Capheaton, Northumberland

  • If you've never seen this little silent french movie about a tour de France rider being kidnapped by the mafia you must get it. Really cheap on ebay

  • Vive le France

It should be la France. :)

  • I stand corrected monsieur, perhaps it was the predictive text that let me down, lol

  • Anyone got any previous knowledge of Dave Yates M Steels builds? I have a 531c frameset from 1985. Its had a cheapo single colour respray and no decals so it doesn't look too cool. I've been using it as a winter trainer so haven't bothered too much about kitting it out with any decent components. Its my first steel road frame so i cant compare it to anything else in terms of feel. Tbh i would say handling wise it was a bit underwhelming. Maybe due to geometry?

Anyway, opinions on whether i should get rid for something more exciting or is it a keeper to hang some decent components from?

  • Any opinions on the aboves geometry? Was this the default racing geometry of the mid 80's? I can't make up my mind if its a bit too relaxed to be considered 'racer' or not.

  • I'm no expert but I would say racer, no eyelets for mud guards etc,ok mine is a bit tighter but there is not much in it

  • Spotted at Kirkley Cycles Cafe / Northumberland
