Do you use the (seemingly) overpriced Kreg bighead screws?

Traditionally, before 'people' were rich enough to fly off several times a year, family arguments peaked in Easter & Xmas holidays, especially for the building trades when sites would shut down for a week or more.

You might need to consider slotted concrete fenceposts, rotated 90 degrees from 'normal', to allow a wooden batten in the slot to give the 'no fixings' look, or to get the coachbolt heads sufficiently aligned.

I'll eat an Easter egg just for them.
Now. Washing lines.
Is it insane to try and run one along a fence panel? Using the fence posts as the point to put a bracket with line between (probably two lines)?I haven't done a physics expt since i was 18 and maths and moments an things like that.

Are the fence posts concrete?
Recently helped (inept) friends relocate a washing line.
Inadequate handle they sourced to tie 'this' end of line to, was a bit too long.
My attempt to drill the required 6mm holes was spot on ....... for the thin bits of reinforcing steel! It ripped the cross-piece of the masonry bit straight out!
Friends got adequately secured washing line, I got new 6mm masonry bit.
csb.
Drilling down the central line of the concrete fence post should be ok. -

Is your single hole jig, (cue Carry On jpeg),
an 'old' model,
or do you have a better supplier than D&M Tools,
who only seem to have the £30+ twin hole version;

Lexan (polycarbonate) or perspex sealed in place with silicone sealant.

Wooden posts....

You've got it easy, then.

I'm keen to have the front gate hidden within the wall, which I think is beyond my level.

Hooks drilled into post with eye for line. Or bracket? I know what i want. But what's it called? Shelf brackets could work....
-
• #10589
Fair enough. That isn't too tough either... Just a post where you want the opening and some flush hinges.
I can understand why you'd prefer getting a man in though. They'd do in half the time with a 1/4 of the hassle!

Yep, haven't bothered experimenting with others, partly due to how often I've used it. I'm no carpenter and so couldn't give you a day in day out assessment, but it's accurate and the bit seems well made.

I suspect being neighbours you have access to a more complete range of Kreg tools.
Once, at a London toolshow, I asked the guy under the Kreg banner if he could demonstrate a specific jig that allowed joints to be accurately held at all sorts of jaunty angles?
He stared at me unknowingly, then, with no other potential customers facing him, began to delve into the barely unpacked shipping cases under the worktop of the exhibition stand.
Finally he found a large-ish unopened box. Releasing pristine tabs from slots, he revealed the device. I'm pretty certain he had never seen it before. He bumbled a few words of introduction, then relieved turned to another punter, leaving me to examine it's intricacies.
Like you I am not a carpenter, so balked at the £100+ price. -

Guy sounds useless, that was a rep?
You'd be surprised (or maybe not) how little awareness the Usonians have of us. -
• #10594
Firstly an apology to an unjustly maligned Kreg rep.
Was a few years ago, and I haven't really thought of that specialist clamp since.
It was the guy on the Bessey clamp stand,
and it was this;
http://www.dm-tools.co.uk/product.php/section//sn/BESGS11#.WPDqSqLau00Yep, was a rep, but didn't seem like a 9-5/40 hour a week travelling rep,
more like a guy hired in for the toolshow,
or,
maybe someone from the distributors office covering for the true rep. -

Gotcha

Lexan (polycarbonate) or perspex sealed in place with silicone sealant.
Cheers! Will take a look at that.

Wickes finally came through
Called it a day at 5 so as to not annoy the neighbours, any more

Can't remember if I posted this yet - my wardobe, mostly finished except for a few handles and a bit of painting. Though I'm now not 100% sure I want to paint it; looks really nice in the natural birch.
Currently rocking the natural look, next stage is to paint the doors in gentrification grey. I think it looks incredible as the natural birch though. #furnituredesign #woodworking #plywood #interiordesign #wardrobe

Would love to be able to make these bespoke for people, but I'd need a far bigger workshop. Will try to build up to it.
