Battled for months searching to find a solution to a similar problem.
Bottom line is Allez headsets are an absolute nightmare. Go with the manufacturer extortion option, the time you'll spend looking for alterntives is worth more than the £50 you'll spend with Specialized.
Concept store Kingston quoted me around £33 a while back if that helps.
