I think you're all missing the point of e55 estates... Massive engine, power everywhere for cruising and hooning and relatively sleeper looks. You would have to choose very carefully though.
The linked one looks like a lot of car for the money. I'd rather an m5 of that era though. -

Entirely,
I'm the guy who opted out of rust prone-ness concerns by buying a plastic bodied (except bonnet, which 15 years in, is, yep, showing first signs of rust), Grand Espace. -

What tool do you need? or what do you need to remove? There are usually ways of getting or making something to fit
Got a photo? -

M5 touring was never available for this generation of cars, which means you are looking at the Alpina B10 Touring and the only one for sale in the U.K. Is £18,000 (although it's been for sale for ages).
I reckon £6k for an E55 with £4K contingency fund for fixing stuff.
Decent M5 saloons are ~£10k here.
Next task is to find a buyer for the Volvo really.

Just get this

Are you actually going to do this? The volvo is much nicer.

Looks like the timing belt needs doing.

You're forgetting a £1k p/a rear tyre budget, not even mentioning fuel...
But, I'd imagine the e55 is a safe bet as you'll always be able to sell a AMG merc. For mile munching cargo hauling it'd be great, flex the right ankle and syrupy burbly v8 goodness reeling in the horizon

On a side note, my A3 1.8 TFSI just drank 2.5 litres of oil in 1900 kilometres. And there's no leaks. Trouble brewing?

Soz. Need estate innit.

• #33713
Did you really need to fit that aftermarket 2-stroke conversion kit?

Added lights...

My 2.0 does about 4l per 10k, so I'd suggest rings

They're about to go the way of the Lancia Delta Integrale, price wise, so I'm selling now to avoid making 20 grand

Yes, where has that oil gone?
-
• #33718
C43 or GTFO.
-
• #33719
Really?
Fuck my 140k mondeo doesn't use any oil even using fully synth 5w30.

TADTS I think.
Lynne Faulds-Wood is on it tho:

I'm toying with the idea of a Saab 95 aero or a Alfa sports wagon jtd
-
• #33722
Early 2.4 jtd alfa engine is brilliant, set up for power more than economy.

C43 or GTFO.
Too small.

Nein! I also think the E55 looks a lot nicer than the C43. Albeit a bit like I should wear an Alice band to drive it.
I suspect it was something to with the preparation of the steel, ( more/better required for water based paints),
and possibly something to do with the difference between the climatic conditions of South Africa, (generally warmer/less humid?), compared to the UK, (cooler /routinely damp almost perfect for the rapid onset of rust).
I'm guessing that each successive model of E-Class uses thinner steel to reduce weight?
