Why's that? Also, any opinion on MIPS vs the non-MIPS version?

Mips is the new standard. A lot of helmet designs are retro fitted with Mips, which can effect the way it fits. I'd either look for a helmet designed recently with Mips integrated from the beginning of the design process or just ignore it.
