  • To a man they're Crocs people.

  • UK Supreme Court denies Big Tobacco appeal, plain packaging to go ahead

As a smug ex-smoker I welcome this. In all seriousness I'm amazed how uncommon smoking now seems to be, and do wonder how many people will still be buying cigarettes in 2020.

  • Huge cost to public finances though- smokers died quite fast at around 60, now they'll last another 20 years and take a long time to croak.

  • The irony is that in the period smoking has declined the wider population have all been progressively poisoned by deliberately underestimated diesel fumes instead.

    Hooray!

  • Huge cost to public finances though

It'll be ok, those chem-trails from the airplanes will sort it all out.

  • Ha!

I was going to post that. Was it the Czechs who did a study in this recently?

Loss of tax revenue + speed of smoking related illness Vs. fat related ones = ££££££££££££sssss

  • Russia has plans to ban smoking for those born after 2015.

  • Like the way they made it sludge green just to make it look as unappealing as possible.

Should've used Comic Sans as the font though.

  • The boxes' colour, a muddy green called Pantone 448C, was deliberately chosen for its lack of allure.

  • is that why it was chosen for the sharkpits jersey as well?

  • The bland packaging is just going to create a new market for ugly cigarette box cases. Look, they already exist:

  • surely cases like these will come back too though?

  • Only in Hoxton

  • I almost felt sorry for Justine Greening this morning, trying and failing to defend the fucking ridiculous policy on grammar schools.

Jon Humphrys essentially got her to admit:

    • Grammar schools are currently failing the poorest and something needs to change
    • The new policy isn't specific on how this is going to change the situation
    • The Conservatives are now focusing on 'ordinary working families' - which in their lexicon, means 'basically not the poorest because fuck them, we're cutting their schools to pay for this shit idea's

Only the most ardent careerist could go along with this shit that even many of her own party recognise is a joke.

  • 50 000 disabled people have also just had their motability vehicles taken the fuck away. Disabled? stop being such a burden on the tory party and die already.

  • Yeah, this is shocking. This happened to someone in my family but they got it back on appeal.
    Government being straight-up cunce.

  • they took away vehicles for primary carers as well. my brother was essentially a prisoner in a shit, privately run nursing home.

    tory? cunt.

  • tory? cunt.

I would love someone to try and mount a legitimate counter-argument to this.

  • The economy! Think of house prices! Socialism would destroy the value in our homes, we have to sacrifice the disabled and the poor because otherwise recession!

  • :(

You couldn't even buy the car cheaply, they just took it?

  • we've replaced it since. but motability cars come kitted out with accessibility features that are a ballache to replace.

it's not like we can't afford to kit my mom out with a set of wheels, and we have, but she's a pensioner and my brother's primary carer - being provided with a fucking car that doesn't take a week to get in and out of is not an unreasonable expectation, especially when you have to take the person you're caring for to ATOS for an employability assessment.

forum tories... where have they all gone...?

  • Yeah, anything to do with disability etc. tends to be dear, then there's the installation costs :/

They cut disability benefits in The Netherlands too some time ago, politicians just seem to be dumb and clueless as it may sound like a lot of money, but on a countrywide scale, really, it's not.

  • forum tories... where have they all gone...?

    Chequers?

  • My mums been waiting 4 weeks to hear if she is allowed a home visit for her assessment. her doctor and psychiatrist have both written to them to say she needs one Instead they keep scheduling appointments in the centre and then cancelling them the day before citing they need more time to make a decision.

The stress of it has basically sent her into a depressive state and her current level of health has fallen through the floor.

all because a few selfish petty cunts who have everything they will ever need still get angry when they see someone poor given anything more than gruel and water as befits their second class status and would rather see a disabled person abused than let a microscopic amount of people fraudulently obtain a meagre amount of money unjustly.
