This weekend I'd booked out Sunday for BIKE STUFF, meaning ride in the morning and PR in the afternoon.
I picked a route with one of my favourite climbs in the area: Brickworks, and threw in another that I've never been up before and set on my way. The weather was gorgeous, meaning smiles from the word go.
Winding my way out of the Manchester urban sprawl I maybe over-cooked it a little, leaving myself more sore than I'd have hoped for the climbs but it was fun knowing the ride wasn't going to be long - I could try and push on and wouldn't be too badly punished later.
My legs felt okay despite a 10 mile walk on Saturday and I was at the bottom of the Brickworks before I knew it. Passed a guy going really well with two prosthetic legs on the way up.
The climb itself was gorgeous as ever and thoroughly enjoyable in the sunshine, leading straight into a fun descent and then onto Higher Ln which was new to me.
Harder than expected, but gorgeous and quiet. The descent was fun until the speedbumps started, they were unexpected!
All was left was the long slightly downhill ride home. The roads were fairly busy but it was fun and fast.
All in all a 10/10 ride, fingers crossed for more lovely weather.
