• I've had mixed success with the dedicated tool I bought, you can borrow it but I think its a bit shit. What sort of fork are you removing it from?

    Recently I've thought this a better method (steel forks, steel steerer mind, I've never had to do it with a carbon / alu fork)

    and a hammer to knock it out. Much less likely to damage the paint or crown of the fork

  • I've done it before with a hammer and screwdriver but this is full carbon steerer and crown, I won't be going near it with a hammer

  • Pin Punch > screwdriver but yeh I wouldn't dare either on full carbsy.

    Sounds like you need the real deal

  • If the race is flush with the crown, the tool might struggle to get started.

    Tap a razor/Stanley blade in and work it around: should give the tool enough of a grip to get going.
