• one of my favourite mini-6pt memories is my dad picking me up from school in his white stag (blue upholstery, m reg). glorious sunny day, roof down. drive home was only about 3 minutes, but I think he was just happy it was running.

  • I can echo that.
Back in the late '70s when I was a student,
my Dad found me a Summer job though one of his mates,
who was an Engineering Supervisor at a Manpower Services Commission training centre at Alperton/Perivale.
Don't know how he could afford to buy or run it, but he had a convertible Stag,
and as long as I was at a certain road junction, by a certain time, he could offer me a lift.
Job only lasted a few weeks, (i found something that paid a bit more), but there were a couple of sunny mornings when the roof was off,
    and,
it felt like ......... I don't really know what!

  • It was one of the few times I remember receiving the benefit of the cars we had lying around - there was an elan that lived solely in the garage before being trailered away and a ginetta that cohabited with the stag but was mostly in boxes. After the stag was a fun little rs1600i we used as a runaround but it wasn't the same (because it had a roof).
