Endless updates. Erry day. Then they download and fail to install. Then it installs and Chrome stops working. So you download Mozilla and that works for two days them moar updates and that stops working too. Fuuuuuuu....

Still not allowed to get the latest macos at work as it breaks our, ironically, ios games development platform.

What are you doing with your pc? Installed Windows 10 a month or two after it came out, normal updates are barely noticeable, big updates every year or so which are slow/annoying, updates have never broken anything (Inc Chrome/Firefox).

Got the new W10 update yesterday. Stable, some nice tweaks and a screen 'night time' mode now built in.

You can reduce the frequency of 'feature' (i.e. not fixes/security) updates and potentially reduce conflicts:

Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Defer feature updates

Ran a power estimation tool and I only need 350W anyway so bought a 550W to cover myself as weirdly it was cheaper than the 450w.

had some visitors staying last week and they connected to my wifi
when i try to connect to the internet now i get error messages along the line of ethernet does not have valid ip configuration and won't connect to the internet

after an hour of bumbling round i eventually found some windows help stating in command prompt i need to type

IPCONFIG/RELEASE
IPCONFIG/RENEW

to get my internet connection back

what should i do to normalise my PC / router connection ?

@dicki did your visitors tinker with the router setup?
If not I imagine the DHCP address assigned to your PC (previously) was assigned to your guest and when your PC tried to use it to access the web it caused an issue. By releasing/renewing you've reestablished it's yours.
Did you try restarting your PC that should have done the same thing.
If it comes back bounce your router I guess.

hmmm i think i've done all of the above,. and no i don't think my guests tinkered with the router( but it is possible )

i re start my pc every day
i've reset my router plus i re start it every day too

however, i can connect 3 or 4 times but then randomly the issues returns i have to renew the ip address and then continue as normal
