• hate how much I post in this thread -

    loaded my bike into car yesterday to drive to my parents before going to mallorca on tues. got some chain oil or something on the rotor of the front wheel (idiot!) and now the brake is squeaky and fucked (assume I have contaminated the pads)

    pads have only got like 100 miles on them so would like to save them. what is the best technique? heating them up? (I heard you can't do that with organic pads, are the standard shimano ones organic or sintered?)

    haven't got any isopropanol handy at my parents. what can I get from nearby hardware store to clean rotor

  • Dishwasher at your parents? Chuck it in. Or hold them over the hob for a few seconds. A gas hob, mind :)

    It's unusual for a small amount of random gloop to completely bury a set a pads. It usually gets burnt off by the heat generated by braking.

  • will try that. I did actually bring a few sets of brand new pads with me incase of this happening
