You shouldn't put it off. A failure of the CRB can cause all kinds of damage. Flywheel etc... At least that's my understanding
It was indeed the CRB, and, unfortunately, the flywheel :( Still, having just driven her back from the garage, the difference is noticable - much lighter clutch.

for the record, I meant "catastrophic failure suddenly unable to drive the car", not "needs replacing" CRB failure.... whether or not you needed a flywheel is up in the air.
