  • Ugh...Most of my money has gone on synths over the last 3 years...so little money for wax :(

I'd do bad things for a copy of this:

Ive had really good results from the PVA glue method. Not for the feint hearted, but I have some Bollywood on the shelves that was eggs and bacon, and is now pretty listenable.

Just only use the kids, non toxic, water based stuff!

  • Fave in our house too...

  • The little market in Greenwich (not the actual main Greenwich market) had a chap with a load of well-priced Steely Dan the other week.

Can someone tell me if this video is viewable? Can't seem to edit privacy settings.

  • Sounds great, I'll give you a fiver for it... :)

  • Funnily enough I was listening to some early Stones earlier today... No Jones, no Stones...

  • Done - provided you cover the cost of a return flight to Oz as well, not going to entrust this record to the postal system.

  • Ha!

  • Anyone in London interested in starting a record club of sorts? Sourcing new vinyl from a wholesaler, enjoying the discounts and helping out fellow junkies.

I'm looking to start a wholesale connection for my own use but it would help to fill minimum orders and increase turnover with a gang. The wholesalers can source just about anything and they provide a list. Prices are around 30% below the usual on line suspects and a whole load less than centrals famous spots. I would of course be fronting the deposit to the wholesaler.

Only downside, you have to exhibit a modicum of patience. I know it's not the same as the journey home with a load of pricy wax under your arm but more wax for your money.

I can post vinyl but it would be useful if this was a collection from me type deal, I'm in SW London (but north of the river) so some of you would need jabs.

  • Would anyone here be interested in a pair of Ortofon Concorde Pro S cartridges and styli?

Approximately 20 hours use, original box, flight case, instructions and accessories (stylus covers, cleaning brush.) O-rings are also present.

    It's these ones:

    *Edit: actual, not stock photograph:

They were £125 not long ago, so how does £80 including recorded postage sound?

    [NOW SOLD]

  • Would you post to Oz? #srsly

  • I'll pay extra for the Aussie postage, obvs...

  • PM sent.

  • Any interest in sharing LFGSSers' Discogs seller pages in case of opportunity for swaps/local collection to avoid paying postage (/donate it to the forum instead)?

Seems a bit spammy but could be good if there's a few sellers on here

  • My mate's new Record shop is opening tomorrow in Brixton - Soul Proprietors - its on Elm Park Road next to the Pub & Post Office. Music and food all day come check it out! Rock Funk Reggae Soul Blues HipHop and more, really nice guy - he buys too

  • @soul_proprietors on instagram, 64 ELM PARK, BRIXTON, LONDON, SW2 2UB

  • Sounds good. I'm not selling at the moment but I'm all for avoiding the postage. I'm mr_a_jones on discogs you can search my collection if you've got time on your hands and ask me if you're interested in anything on there. There's a few I wouldn't sell but the majority is available.

I'm not sure there are all that many vinyl junkies in the vinyl junky thread though, depends on your threshold for entry I guess.

I've got a wholesale connection sorted so I'm spending a lot of time listening/buying at the moment.

  • Thanks for the heads up, always good to find a new place to browse.

  • As a massive Arthur Russel fan, I am very excited about this. I have a copy but it's in such poor condition it's not really playable and the thought of spending £80-£100 for one that's in not much better condition doesn't appeal.

It's rare that I get too excited about reissues but this is a peach:

  • didnt think it was worth a classifieds ad but anyone fancy taking these off my hands for a fiver posted? Slippers not included. Saved them from the charity shop pile, which is where they'll go back if no one wanted them.

I've managed to reduce my records from probably about 2000 LPs and a similar amount of 7s to about half that! Very cathartic.

  • Athens of the North did a 7'' release of this a few months back there could be some floating about in the exchange or Reckless ? great track

  • yeah im game pm incoming

  • Sounds good from the audio on that page. The label looks interesting too. I don't have anything from them, do you know if the pressing quality is any good and are they from tape or digital sources? Had a few disappointing pressings recently. Had some great ones too.

  • I have one of the Ned Doheny albums but that's my only experience. It's very good and well pressed, presented etc and it sounds good.

I think you'll be hard pushed to find anything that hasn't been digitised at some point between recording and record these days but they seem to take care and I don't think they're the type of shysters that would press from a CD source which I think is where a lot of the poor pressing come from. (Not that one exists for this.)

Pretty soon everything will be from a digital source as master tapes degrade with use and over time so a lit are being transferred to preserve the music. I'm sure it's a bit of a red herring as to quality (much like 180/200/220g vinyl.) A properly mastered and pressed record will sound good whether it's from a digital or analogue source on 140g or heavyweight vinyl.
