  • why would you go s/s and put brakes on a frame like that?
i feel like you're missing the point

  • Meh. I guess it depends on how much of an NJS fetishist you are. I like the direction this is taking.

    What chainring btw?

  • There are plenty of Full NJS builds out there. Which i still love but i got a bit bored of them, plus, i have currently 3 "track" bikes. This frame was restored by koichi himself and at the time he added front and rear brake bosses and cable mounts. So perfect for making a SS bike with brakes.

Actually in Japan a few keirin guys train on the roads with Track bikes with brakes (Usually calling them Street Racer frames). I just liked the idea of doing something different with this one.

  • Because the frame has cable guides and is drilled for brakes?

Think you're missing the point son

  • Chainring is a Alter Pista "Mad Max" (Yeah the name sucks)

  • Do want! Just googled it. Expensive :(

  • They're neat. Always wanted a set of clone one's going through the armour phases. And obvs a commando one.

  • So.... Wheels are done..

Now to get this built. Frustratingly i am away for most of next week on business.

  • So good, pretty much how I want mine to look. What rims?

  • They look great, Crabon ? Almost look like an old-school anodised box section alloy rim

  • They are from carbonzone in Xiamen. Similar to the dengfu/hongfu companies people usually get from. Certainly one of the better suppliers.

  • Yeah, I thought the same. Above all I wanted that look without having the silver wear through on the brake walls.

  • And done.. well for now..Still got some tweaking to do and will always be on the look out for that ibis stem still.
Probably will swap out the saddle for something thinner and more roadie in the future.

  • So good man. I reckon you should get some sugino 75 brake levers though ;-)

  • I will add that to my "unicorn" list.. if I ever find

  • I got a pair recently for a good price, however one of them was missing a part which was a shame and I had to send them back. They were very pretty..

  • Ah damn.. pity that.. think I only ever came across a couple in the past. Add them to my eBay watch list :)

  • Yahoo auction Japan might be your friend

  • That is amazing, turned out even better than i expected! Great job

  • Also first real day of spring here so was washing the Bishop

It's nice to pamper yourself, isn't it?

  • Wedding present from the wife ... Not that I am saying it had any part in the decision making. ;) Didn't hurt though

  • That's a great build. My only suggestion would be Cinelli Caleido bar tape, with the multicoloured perforation dots to go with the sparkles... but let's face it, it's pretty fucking good as is : )

  • Ah thanks man. Good call on the tape. Think would go well on this. Plus I kinda messed up a bit on the tape that's on. Was hiding that part. Ordered.....
Also on another note I had to swap out the calipers to some Duraace ones. The rear brake bridge is really close to the tyre which let the carbon caliper "just" scrape against the tyre in places while it was rotating....
No such issues on the shimano one though.
