• @hanford I've used senditnow.com before and think they offer good value for money

For UK addresses, you can send parcels up to 1.5m in length and 3m length and girth combined - maximum weight 30kg - simply drop it off at your nearest post office - £11.35 incl VAT for 2 day service

  • You may be surprised at what a bit of fine emery cloth, t-cut, aluminium foil and brasso can achieve.... I also used a bit of clear coat to go from

    to

  • That looks 100% better!

  • Thanks - may use that when it's packed up - have used MyHermes in the past but I think I was pushing my luck re size.

  • Today I decided to spend a couple of hours messing around with my old 1948 BSA Streamlight. The original wheels and saddle were completely shot so I replaced them with a Brooks and the wheels from my Rudge which is far to large for me.The rear hub is a new SA Two speed kick shift coaster, the rims are old Rigida Westwoods. The bars are new,the stem from a cycle jumble. The frame has just been 'cleaned' with an oily cloth.
The question is do I leave it rat look or have the frame shot blasted and powder coated a loud colour add a matching enclosed chain case and build the hub into new black rims?

  • Pic for above

  • .

  • Sorry pics won't load for some reason.

  • There they are !

  • Don't paint it at all. Looks good as it is,

  • The rear Fiamme sprint rim arrives, so here's the Paragon Andy Bone with it matched with the red-anodised Airlite on Fiamme front one. I was going to rebuild the rear with another red-anodised Airlite hub I have but it seems they're different shades on red-did Airlite do two shades does anyone know?
Bearing this in mind I think I will stick with the rear small flange hub as it is for now as I quite like the look of it on the bike, so the Red-large Flange hub is for sale if anyone's interested....?

  • Not nor a fan of the anodised Airlites bit those go really well with the frame colour. Reckon you should hold out for a matching rear. What tubs are you going for?

  • No idea yet, any recommendations for nice period looking inch tubs? Just got my constrictor clincher wheels back today from Isambards so got to fit them up with my Panaracer 27 x 1 tyres tomorrow. After that just need brakes or a suitable lever for this one

  • @picco see back one page for some of those GB bars you might like.

  • How much would you want for it? It may fit well with my red kinda-Grubb track/path frame.
How hard is to find a matching from one?

  • You have to start hanging around where VCC people lurk ... some may find that harder than others ...

  • there's a cycle jumble at Muswell hill on the 13th May, maybe a good place to start.!

  • Bad timing! I'll be on my way to Google I/O :-(

  • Shame.
    Google I/O..?

  • Yeah, sorry, it's a Google event in Mountain View.

  • Nice.
While your there can you ask why I can't copy image URL's from Google photos into LFGSS on my Android phone?

  • Really, haven't tried. I think those links are 'private', you need to share your photo and grab the share link?

  • Not sure how much really, I'll check what I payed for it and have a think-the chrome is almost all gone from the hub centres and its got a few marks from old spokes etc but is in pretty good nick on the anodising. Oh and the freewheel removal holes are pretty mashed up so not sure how hard it would be to remove with the correct tool....I don't have one. Still thre must be other ways of removing old freewheels. Don't think it's be too expensive though considering how much these can go for on ebay
