• You can, but it makes a real mess. You also find that as powder-coat is charged, it manages to slightly make its way under the fine line of masking, which has to be removed before you put it through the oven.

    We've found the best way to apply stencils on powder-coat is to flat the powder-coat down, 2k spray the stencils and then lacquer over.

    We're happy to powder-coat a frame, flat it down and spray on the stencils and then lacquer over. There's also a lot of masking that needs to be done as you have to apply the stencil and then mask the whole frame before spraying the second colour, which all has to be removed again before you put it through the oven. Any leeching or imperfections in the stencil will be there forever.

    A lot of manufacturers use slide transfers and simple vinyl decals which are placed on and usually lacquered over.
