Yeah, these look like a Reflex Transmission Line to me - so probably close to your RTLs in sound. Never heard them but RTL supposed to be a fine speaker too...

My home set up is now absolutely singing at the moment. I discovered that the micro seiki arm was incorrectly mounted in the SL-1210, so i had a new armboard made and it has really sorted it all out. it sounds fucking amazing with the big pioneer and the tannoys.

now that that is sorted, i have the sony PS6750 TT/amptastic/minstrels set up down in wilts and i have a bunch of stuff to shift, in order to check my man-maths and save for the paint the mgb fund.

Has anyone got any first hand experience of the Rega Brio-r? I've seen loads come up on ebay recently for decent prices. Some amazing reviews online and some not so glowing. It's going to be purely for playing vinyl from my deck with the ortofon blue installed.

Not sure if this is the right place but I have a nice but well out of warranty CD/DVD player (Arcam DV135) but the disk drawer has jammed. Any suggestions on good places to get it repaired? West/central London preferred

Also picked up a pair of jbl control cm52 for a tener, they are great little speakers. so far my budget set up of Onkyo A9010 and the jbl's is doing me fine. On the search for budget turntable still would really like a sl1200/ 10 but @johnnyhotdog 's review of the audiotechnica was good, want a Dj deck so i can have two once again,

Ooooo, I heard a tweaked early PS1 about 5 years ago and its pretty impressive.

I thinks it's a bit of a hype train but am willing to give it a bash. I just like the fact it's top loading ;)

Boring hi fi story... My dad's old yamaha rxv797 died. We'll, I think the thermo fuse is the power supply is gone (project for later).
Opened it up and the amps internals are covered in a saltwater slime. They live 5 mins from the beach. Corroded bits everywhere.
I replaced the amp with a yamaha as701. Now paired with a Nad disc player, and his krix symphonix it sounds amazing. Very much smoother and natural sounding. Thing is, how do we stop the corrosion? Any one have any tricks? Cabinet already has doors and sealed back...

How much concern do people give to sunlight on driver surrounds? My speakers get maybe 1 hour per day when the sun's out from spring to autumn. In the studio I used to work in I remember seeing more perishing on the speaker that was directly facing the window, but that place had giant windows.

Worth covering up if i know the curtains aren't going to get closed? These speakers are about five years old, so is it likely they're a bit more resistant than the 15 year old ones mentioned above?

Just want to know if I've being paranoid.

I've won a pair of ultra-rare sony ss7000 speakers on ebay, for pocket money! I am not sure it was a sensible move, but I think they are worth a fortune, even unrestored...

Thanks for the kind offer. I wouldn't be able to get anything done though, it's hypnotising. I'm already tripping on what the carpet would look like if I was tripping.

Last pair to sell on evilBay were £80. Seems about right. I've sold similar quality floor standers for about the same. You'd probably get more money if they were easier to post, that's the way it goes with theBay.
