  • Horribly flexy?

I'm doing a show off fixie track bike build and it's already got a ti stem and post so I thought I may as well give it some more. May steer clear of them then I guess.

  • Horribly flexy?

    Bingo.

If you're making a show off fixie, maybe go for a chrome nitto track drop instead?

  • Bingo.

Bunkum. If you use the same profile as aluminium, you end up with about 25% more stiffness, and if you're using 3Al2.5V (as you probably have to, to get the ductility) in place of 7075 aluminium, you have to use the same profile as the yield strength is hardly any better. Once you've done that, you end up with something as strong as a high quality aluminium bar and a bit stiffer, but 50% heavier and about 4 times the price.
