Hi @7ven
I bought a set of 1st generation GB Hiduminium levers of EBay a couple of weeks ago, Nice but I need a replacement bracket, bolt, and nut. I have got a spare second generation lever but the bolt and nut are two large To be of any use.
Would you have a spare per chance
Regards

Thanks, Paint is original, the rims are wood made by Guisallio. There is a chain keeper mounted on the seat tube that works to keep the chain on the chainring. Shifting is not bad for such an old system - you soft pedal forwards and over shift to throw the chain into the next gear then back it off into the indent on the shift lever. There is considerable flex in the bottom bracket if you stand up and mash the pedals. This causes the crank arm to contact the tension arm which in turn will cause the chain to lose purchase with the freewheel. It does ride very well if you spin smoothly and avoid overpowering it.

It makes all the difference having a frame with the original paint work. I'm still on the look out for my first!
I would have thought the frame was built for 27 1.1/4 Rims judging by the gap between the rim and fork crown? -

I don't need the pair I just need the one on the left.

If I may ask which shop are you getting the Hobbs built up? -

Ah cool, drop me a pm with your address and I'll get it in the post on Monday. Still in the process of moving in and unpacking otherwise you'd be more than welcome to come to collect.

I have a Brooks Competition. I think it's 60's as it has no rear badge (nor any sign of one ever having being there) just the embossed badge, It's been modified by being laced/tied to make it a bit narrower, and is a really lovely saddle nice and firm but comfy.
I can upload some photos of it fitted to my old bike tonight if you like? I guess I'd want about £35 for it?
PM me if you like

Hi Guy's .
I have just picked up 1952 Raleigh Lenton Sports.
The paintwork is in a dreadful state so I intend to take it all off and clear coat then add the original style decals on again, but the only ones I can find are from H Lloyd and are for a later model , does anyone know where I might get some ? I was pointed in the direction of the 'Decals Thread' I have looked at all those and its a no from all there .Cheer's

How bad is the paint? I have had a few of these Lentons inc a 52 and I would say to just leave it if you can.
I found that I had a 52 frame that had been painted up very early, so it still had decals and chrome work that were not on the models knocked out later that year. I wish I hadn't Sold that bike :(
Other than that it's a custom job if you really can't find the right ones.

I have lightly rubbed the lumpiness of the rust on the down tube, seat tube and top tube woth 600 grit pads then again with 0000 wire wool to smooth the 'paintwork and not destroy the patina , I'm now thinking about a Rat look ...

Not to late to save it. Oil it up and it will look great!

I was thinking about this light rub down all over to get it smooth and then clear coat to bring out the colours and protect what is there , keep the history .

For Ecobeard - was going to skip it but it's solid - seemed a shame.

Is anyone interested in these earlier bits before I put them on eBay?
40h early Scheeren Record track rim, wood filled. Tubular, very light, never had a brake used on it. Got a couple of little cracks on some of the spoke holes but probably nothing to worry about because it loads the spokes from the other side. £10
36H Fiamme tubular rim. I think it's a second generation rim, so 1960s maybe late 50s. £10
32/40 Campagnolo/FB fixed/free hubs. First ever Campagnolo hubs made, identical to the earlier FB hubs but with Campagnolo logos. Chrome a bit tatty but useable hubs. No quick releases. £30
60s GB bars on 70mm SR stem. Black vinyl bar wrap in good condition apart from a little scuffing right at the ends. £15
Pick up from Egham/Staines or I can post at cost.

Lovely
Happy to take that if it's still going?
Edit - just re read original post and seen you are in Glos, is postage an option at all?
-
• #524
Certainly - give me a couple of days to find a box and pack it up - will take off the chainset and include it together with any other bits and bobs that could be re-cycled maybe.
Glad it can be of some use. Guessing postage will be around a tenner if that's O.K ? -

That amazing
Let me know the total and I'll PP it over
Thanks so much
Does anybody want a 1952 Rudge 531 frame for nothing - it's in poor condition but structurally sound.
I'll dig out some shots - it's about a 58cm square frame. P.M's with interest - am in Gloucester, pickup welcome.
