Yeah, you're right to an extent, farms are being merged/enlarged, as are herds. Which is bad news for cows. But with a diminished market for dairy the remaining farmers may rethink. Problem is that farmers that have been animal abusers for generations are unlikely to suddenly switch to arable farming. Fuck them anyway.
Hm, I'm not sure that's only good news. I remember reading somewhere that dairy farms had generally just become much larger. I think it may have been in an article about those proposed 'super-dairies' that were all over the headlines a few years ago. Somehow, I doubt that the volumes of cow's milk produced, and the number of cows abused for it, have decreased.
