f there is any trace of any tiny bits of dirt or anything you drag it across the panel and can cause fine scratches etc.

Also true of chamois and microfibres...

Chamois more so, microfibres do at least have some level of pile to 'absorb' particles

Basically it's best to keep your car in the garage so it never needs washing.
